Simple pot to fancy pot

June 2014 we became first time homeowners! A scary and exciting experience.  There are so many projects and things I would like to do, but don't know where to start.

I have been trying to pick the perfect project and the perfect way to do it. I have been wasting so many hours and days on Pinterest. One day, I realized, while I am spending all this time on good old Pinterest nothing in my house is getting done.

Meanwhile my flowers are growing bigger and bigger and the pots they were planted in, were getting smaller and smaller. I went to a few different places to find the perfect pot. I was shocked how expensive they can be! You can't find a good quality and decent looking flower pot for less then 30 dollars. This is when I had an "Ahha" moment - "I will just DIY something."

Went to Lowe's and found this guy for about $3!!! I came home and wanted to see if its the perfect size. While the size was good the color was wrong! SO wrong for our bedroom and for our taste.

I was cleaning the garage and I realized I had some left over paint from when we moved in. We used to to paint our entryway. So this is not any special fancy paint. I decided to try it and see what will happen.
I applied two coats of paint. After, I decided it looked boring and it needed something. The cherry from the top of the cake was missing. I went back to Pinterest and I  saw a few things that were personalized with a monogram. Light bulb moment- I can do the same.

I made a monogram. My first and last initials start with SC and my better half's initials also are SC and I decide to go with SC2. I printed it on a simple paper, cut it and used is as a stencil. I protected the sides with some old towels. I also applied 2 coats of chalk paint I had left from another project.
 And Voila the end result.
I think it looks fantastic in our bedroom and it took me just a total of a few hours. Minus the time I had to wait in order for the paint to dry.

Conclusion: Don't think to much! Just go and start a project that you have in mind. You will figure it out as you go.

Happy painting!

xoxo
