Things that need to disappear

Decided to write  chain of posts about a certain topic that have been bothering me for a while now. I hope I will not appear negative, but there are a number of things that in my opinion should disappear for diverse reasons.

1. Pictures of your food

I am sorry but I do not care what you are eating! I do not care to know where you are and this does not make you look cooler. I am not certain what people are trying to show by posting pictures of their food. It is one thing when you made something and maybe you are proud because you never made it before and it turn out well. But just because you went our to eat, it does not mean you have to show me what you are having for dinner. You are not making me envy you, you just look pathetic.

2. Teenage girls and other people without any cosmetology degree giving advice and making YouTube videos:

https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/41/09/00/4109006430a94db8fef7da4b403a9a6d.jpgOne day I got stock watching a bunch of videos of this gills teaching how to apply make-up and how to make yourself beautiful. I am sorry maybe I come from a different planet, but when I see a headline that says "School make-up" or " Make-up for school" I get extremely sad. I think your main concern when you go to school is your homework NOT your make-up. Besides that some of the techniques they use are so incorrect. I remember I saw this one video were this girl had a crazy amount of make-up. I think she was 16 or so. How can parents let her buy so much make-up? I also remember I posted a comment which said "This is way too much make-up and no one needs that much" As a reply I got " You are jealous". I got what I deserved. I was talking to teenage audience who's main concern is having a LOT of makeup because for some unknown to me reason.

That's all for today! I will come back with more things that I believe need to disappear,  just need to go back and observe more people.

Cheers,

I think if I would ever be to win a million I would spend it all on traveling. Only by exploring other cultures we get to understand them, we become less ignorant and more open minded. When I feel that my fuel is gone and I need more inspiration. When I need more willpower I buy a ticket and go somewhere. I love to travel alone because this is how I infiltrate into the culture and I don't have to compromise with the places I want to visit and things I have to do and see.

After my father passed away I needed some time to heal and grieve. My friend was going through a divorce and I decided we both can use each others support. Bought a ticket and gone I was.

  1. I LOVE the fact that they have designated parking spots for mothers with children. Its enough for them to see a car seat and this will suffice.
    2. The famous London Eye

     3. The Tower Bridge

    4. The British Museum

TIP: When I go to the Museums during my travels I do not usually have time to read everything they have written, so usually I take a picture and read it later.

    Simple pot to fancy pot

June 2014 we became first time homeowners! A scary and exciting experience.  There are so many projects and things I would like to do, but don't know where to start.

I have been trying to pick the perfect project and the perfect way to do it. I have been wasting so many hours and days on Pinterest. One day, I realized, while I am spending all this time on good old Pinterest nothing in my house is getting done.

Meanwhile my flowers are growing bigger and bigger and the pots they were planted in, were getting smaller and smaller. I went to a few different places to find the perfect pot. I was shocked how expensive they can be! You can't find a good quality and decent looking flower pot for less then 30 dollars. This is when I had an "Ahha" moment - "I will just DIY something."

Went to Lowe's and found this guy for about $3!!! I came home and wanted to see if its the perfect size. While the size was good the color was wrong! SO wrong for our bedroom and for our taste.

I was cleaning the garage and I realized I had some left over paint from when we moved in. We used to to paint our entryway. So this is not any special fancy paint. I decided to try it and see what will happen.
I applied two coats of paint. After, I decided it looked boring and it needed something. The cherry from the top of the cake was missing. I went back to Pinterest and I  saw a few things that were personalized with a monogram. Light bulb moment- I can do the same.

I made a monogram. My first and last initials start with SC and my better half's initials also are SC and I decide to go with SC2. I printed it on a simple paper, cut it and used is as a stencil. I protected the sides with some old towels. I also applied 2 coats of chalk paint I had left from another project.
     And Voila the end result.
I think it looks fantastic in our bedroom and it took me just a total of a few hours. Minus the time I had to wait in order for the paint to dry.

Conclusion: Don't think to much! Just go and start a project that you have in mind. You will figure it out as you go.

    Happy painting!

    xoxo

    T-shirt Yarn

After I made 2 quilts I ended up with about 30 T-shirts. I did some research and decided to make t-shirt yarn from it. When that was done it was time to start making lots and lots of rugs to cover all the tile in the house.

It took me a LONG to cut them. I tried to find the best, quickest, and easiest way to cut the T-shirts. I did not really find the best system except just pick up the scissors and start cutting. Also it helped that mom came to visit me from Europe and this became her full time job for a few days :)

    My new obsession: FREE STUFF

I was trying to write this post on Monday in order to be able  to post it on Tuesday as I promised,  but with all the changes google made I was unable to find my blog oops :))

As you can realize - I was able to find it eventually. So,  my new obsession is a website called Freebie Depoe where every day they have a bunch of things they either give out for free or they are free after rebate. I LOVE IT. Now every morning instead of going on Facebook I go on this website.

    http://www.freebie-depot.com/category/free-after-rebate/

You must check it out. Recently they had a great deal for a photo book where you had to only pay for the shipping and handling. What an amazing gift. I have been addicted with this website for about 3 months and got a lot of amazing deals.

My latest "purchase" was  this set of razors. Basically I signed up for a free sample and in a few days I got a coupon. Lucky for me they had this great deal at Giants where with the price of 3 razors you got 4. How amazing is that! Now I wont have to buy razors a few months and lets be honest they can get extensive.

Once in a while you will get things that are disappointing

This sample unfortunately went to trash right away but it was worth trying. All I want to say is that I am in love with this website. So far I managed to receive a lot of free samples and what can be better then free.

    Enjoy

    A post wedding present

It's been a while since I posted something. I was in vacation in Europe (but about it I will have another post some other time). Then I was busy with studying, organizing, cleaning the new apartment that I moved in, and of course doing crafts. Now that I am less busy I promissed myself I will post every week. I will try to do it every Tuesday. So this will be our meeting time every week :)

In June I was in California to celebrate the wedding of a very wonderful couple, two ex- Marines. They had a very simple, fun and perfect wedding. After the wedding the bride had some left over fabric and ribbons that she gave me knowing I like to get crafty.

After I gave it some thought I decided to make a table runner for the couple's new apartment. It took me an entire day but I am happy with the result.

I took 2 pieces of fabric each about 12 by 36 inches.

I connected the two pieces of fabric with ribbon that is 1.5 inch from which I made this beautiful chain flowers (I think it's called "ribbon trim").
Then I finished the edges with the 1/2 inch ribbon. the final result can be seen above.

    And  voilĂ

I am happy with the result. Not sure this picture is a great one to show the result but this was the best place with a good light in my house.

    Cheers,

    Get busy get crafty :-)

    Movies 1

This week was a hard one. Lots of unpacking, lots of boxes that needed to be crashed and tossed away, lots of laundry and lots of organizing was accomplished.  I was alone and needed some noise in the background to keep myself going. I like multitasking because it makes me feel more productive. Yes, you are right as I am writing this I am watching a show that I used to watch while I lived in my home country. Therefore, while doing all the tasks mentioned above I managed to watch nine movies.

The movies I watched this week are:

    1. A good day to die hard: such a big disappointment. I was looking forward to seeing Bruce Willis working together with  Jai Courtney. Its been a while since I saw a movie with Bruce Willies and I always thought he is a great actor. The movie eneded up being a disaster in my opinion. Firstly, I speak Russian and I absolutely despise when a movie maker uses an american character as a " russian" character. When they pronounce something I can barely understand what they are trying to say, majority of them cannot pronounce the letter "R".  They always make the russian side the dark one and the American side always wins. So cliche, its like a dream that the american nation has and that can be only acomplished in movies.

    2. Family weekend:  a simple cute movie about a girl who just wants her family to be normal and supportive of her. Nothing impressive, easy to watch and the most important part is that it has a  happy ending.

    3. Divorce Invitation: nothing extraordinary just  easy to watch,  cute and very actual subject nowadays- adultery leading to a divorce.  Learned a good clause for a prenuptial agreement. Not telling you which one, you would have to watch the movie in order to fond out.

    4. Hit and Run: after I saw the trailer on the TV I had this movie on a MUST see list. I was really looking forward to see it and was so disappointed. I was very close to stopping the movie half way through, but decided to watch it till the end in order to be fair and accurate in my judgment. I was never a fan of Kristen Bell but was hopping that the presence of  Dax Shepard and Bradley Cooper will help her bad acting and I was so wrong.

    5. Good Deeds:  LOVED the movie. I couldn't believe the low raiting it had. I  am a big fan of Tyler Perry and I think he is a great actor. The movie reminded me about the most important things in life. You have to follow your own destiny and your dreams.

    6. To Rome with Love: in my opinion it did not have a good story and was just bad. Even the presence of Penelope Cruz cannot save this movie.

    7. Parental Guidance:cute, nice, family moovie. Made me laugh and it had a good story.

    8. Friends with Kids: I highly recommend the movie. Good story about the real pylons of a good marriage. Sometimes love and pation is not enough.

    9. The Big wedding: not the best movie I watched this week. Had a few funny momments but I felt like it was incomplete and not as good as the trailer pictured it to be.

I hope this helps you in deciding what to watch  in the near future.

    Cheers,
